The soft open was a promising display of patterning and intricate rhythmic work within a context of traditional Eastern European folk dances. But upon the announcement that the performance would continue until the last dancer was dancing or the last person was watching, I knew I was in for a lengthy evening. Two and one half hours later, after about 5 false endings, one music malfunction, and awkward applause, the same 10 second rhythmic slapping and stomping pattern had crowded all other content from my brain.
