Giving

The Florida State University School of Dance is fortunate to have a community who understands the importance of giving back. We rely on private support to attract and retain notable faculty, bring in visiting artists, provide technical and material resources for performance and research, and much more.

Friends of Dance was established in 1987 to provide direct scholarships for deserving Florida State University dance majors. We encourage participation in attendance at the School’s various dance events and offer support for the policies, projects and activities of the School. Annual donors to the School of Dance become members of our Friends of Dance. Thank you to all our donors and volunteers! For additional information about Friends of Dance, please contact La Toya Davis-Craig at ldavis3@fsu.edu.

Endowed scholarships provide a predictable stream of income that allows the School of Dance to attract and retain students for any number of purposes, such as merit scholarships and/or financial needs. Scholarship funds provide the single most significant tool to increase the standard of the School of Dance applicants, meet various financial needs and attract and maintain a student body rich in diversity.

Thank you to everyone who has made our endowed scholarships a reality. Please select a fund below to read more about its purpose, past student recipients and the donors who established the funds.

Sponsorships

The School of Dance needs your help in these difficult times. Here are just a few of the areas where we could use your financial assistance in providing our students with best possible education:

  • Repertory – Funding for new repertory can cost between $4,000 and $50,000 per work. Range of fees can depend upon the prominence of the choreographer, length of the work, how often we wish to perform the work etc.
  • Production costs – Costumes, sets, props and lighting supplies cost more than you might think.
  • Technology – As I am sure you are aware, technology marches on with or without us! Help us stay up-to-date with computers, cameras, video, audio, lighting and production technology.
  • Guest Lecturers and Teachers. Our resident faculty is amazing, but outside artists offer new outlooks, opinions, and ways of looking at our world.
