Mariah Preedin (she/her) is a passionate 1st generation alumna of Florida State University’s School of Dance. She is a Florida native, and her journey began in Gainesville, where she discovered her love for choreography and performance. Prior to attending Florida State, Mariah trained with Dance Alive National Ballet and participated in the dual enrollment program at Santa Fe College, a pivotal chapter in her artistic development. During her time at Santa Fe, Mariah had the privilege to both dance and craft choreography for their esteemed performing company, Dance Theatre of Santa Fe (DTSF). Her involvement with DTSF included residency opportunities within the Master Artist series, and she worked closely with renowned artists such as Davis Robertson from New York Dance Project and Dimensions Dance Theatre. Mariah’s creative prowess shone brightly as her choreographic works earned recognition at the American College Dance Association’s southeast conference in both 2019 and 2020, the latter of which was unfortunately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her unwavering commitment and artistic talent continued to flourish as she pursued her passion at Florida State University. Recently, she had the distinct honor of presenting and performing her third creation in the Days of Dance Concert, titled “+/-.” Furthermore, Mariah unveiled her senior capstone solo series, “Three,” showcasing her artistic depth and evolution. Looking ahead, Mariah is determined in her aspirations to create a thriving career in choreography and performance. She also seeks to expand her educational horizons within the realm of dance, further fueling her artistic journey.
