Live Oak with Anjali Austin
Conceived, written and developed by Ms. Anjali Austin, Live Oak is a solo performative work based on quilts inherited from her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Gussie Beatrice Arnold Hill (1912-1988).
Live Oak is a sixty-minute autoethnographically based theatrical work based on experiences of African-Americans and people of color living in the south during the early and mid-19th century. The piece offers unique cultural insights and rarely disclosed realities of Black, Brown and Red people from that era.
