Facilities
montgomery hall In 2001, the department began a $17 million, phased renovation of Montgomery Gym, which has transformed its already substantial facilities into a 21st-century, state-of-the-art dance place. Renamed Montgomery Hall in 2004, the newly renovated facility includes 7 dance studios, a fully equipped 380 seat proscenium theatre, black box studio/theatre, music resource center, computer media lab, costume shop, general classrooms, offices, dressing rooms, conditioning studio, student and faculty lounges and conference rooms.

Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre
  • Seating capacity – 380
  • Lit dance space – 35 feet wide by 29 feet deep
  • Background draperies include bi-part blackout velour,
    black scrim, and seamless rear projection screen
  • Lighting network controlled by ETC Emphasis control
    system with full 3D WYSIWYG package
  • Sound – CD minidisk or WAV files via a SFX playback system

Black Box Studio/Theatre (64’ x 59’)
  • ETC expression lighting console with 400 channels,
    192 dimmers and 3 universes of DMX
  • Lighting grid over the entire room at 14’ above the floor
  • Ethernet connection to the FSU network and Internet2(tm) for bandwidth intensive applications.
Studios
All studios are equipped with audio and video systems, Internet access and Harlequin panel system sprung floors. Each studio has a grand piano with the exception of the faculty warm up studio.

Conditioning Studio (500 square feet)
  • 1 Pilates Reformer
  • 2 Gyrotonic Pulley Towers· Conventional cardiovascular training equipment
  • Small alignment area with spring floor, mirrors and barre
Computer Lab and Media Studio
  • 18 Macintosh work stations designed to handle video editing, graphic design, and multimedia production
  • Media Studio is equipped with similar workstations and its use is dedicated to Dance Technology faculty and MANCC artists
Music Resource Center
  • 8 PC based audio workstations
  • Recording studio equipped with a multi track Pro Tools recording system and sound proof room
  • 24 track Pro Tools system to record from the black box studio, theatre or sound stage
Locker/Dressing Rooms/Green Room
  • 50 lit makeup stations for female chorus and 10 for
    male chorus adjacent to showers and rest rooms
  • Duo and solo dressing rooms with private restrooms
    and shower, phone, closed circuit cable and Ethernet connection
  • Green room has a video monitor, ice machine, refrigerator,
    eating area, lounging area and a jacuzzi foot bath
  • Audio monitors to theatre and black box studio located
    in dressing rooms and green room
Costume Shop
  • Equipped with three sewing machines and sergers
  • Laundry facilities, dye vat, range and fitting area
Faculty Office Wing
  • 2 conference rooms with seating capacity of 18
  • 22 offices
  • Faculty lounge with refrigerator, microwave, and eating space
Technology Enhanced Classrooms
  • Occupancy – 30-50
  • Whiteboard, video projector and screen· DVD/CD player and VHS player
  • Document camera, internet connections
  • PC based computer and lap top connections
