Dan’s House, Here Now Dance Collective’s film featured this fall in the School of Dance’s Evening of Dance concert, has been selected to screen in the 42nd Dance on Camera NYC Film Festival on February 2nd, 2014. Here Now Dance Collective, founded by School of Dance MFA graduate Michelle Fletcher, shot the work in the summer of 2012 on location at School of Dance distinguished faculty member Dan Wagoner’s 18th Century home in rural West Virginia. The film also features performances by three graduates of the School of Dance’s BFA program – Michelle Kinny, Kit McDaniel, and Andy Chapman.

Inaugurated in 1971 and considered the “mother” of dance film festivals, Dance On Camera annually presents a broad range of films including documentaries, shorts, features, experimental works, and music videos that celebrate the immediacy of dance combined with the intimacy of film. This February will be the first time that Here Now Dance Collective (HNDC) has been featured in the Dance On Camera festival. Michelle Fletcher (MFA, Florida State School of Dance) founded HNDC in 2008. Based in San Francisco, CA, the company originated as a simple gathering of friends and performers. HNDC collaborates in a playful, disciplined way in order to create projects with unique aesthetics and incorporate immersive environments for audiences.
