Letter from the Dean

Published January 15, 2015

You may have noticed a change to the masthead on our website. For almost a year the College has been going through the process of changing our name from the College of Fine Arts to the College of Fine Arts. The process involved meetings with the faculty, department Chairs and Directors as well as votes from the faculty, the council of deans, FSU Faculty Senate, and the Board of Trustees.

Our new name is easier to remember, more inclusive of the diverse departments and will help the College present itself in a more unified manner. Only the name of our college has changed. The departments, units, and degrees all remain the same.

The College of Fine Arts (CFA) will be starting the 2015 calendar year with a new name and the same, well-established and exceptional creative energy our students, staff, faculty and community have enjoyed for years. Please take some time and browse our website to learn more about the exciting work and offerings of the College of Fine Arts.

If you have not done so already, please join us in attending some of exhibitions, performances, lectures and other presentations and events around the college. Whether you are a current student, staff, faculty, patron or alumni, I am sure you will be impressed by the diversity and quality of the work. From the Ringling Museum and FSU Conservatory in Sarasota to the academic programs and Museum of Fine Arts in Tallahassee, the CFA at FSU has exceptional and renowned offerings that educate, entertain and inspire.

I hope to see you at the Florida State University College of Fine Arts next year.

— Peter Weishar, Dean
