On October 12 - 13, Blythe Barton and Kristen Tucker, along with The Florida State University Department of Dance, will present a dance concert, Explore & Evolve.
Both concerts will be presented at 8:00 pm, and held in the Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre located in Montgomery Hall on the FSU campus. The concert will be an eclectic mix of commissioned works by guest choreographers, and will also feature Mrs. Barton’s and Ms. Tucker’s own choreography. Guests can expect to see a wide range of dance styles including classical and contemporary ballet, athletic, minimalist and contact partnering modern works, and a multimedia videodance presentation. Guest choreographers for Explore & Evolve include FSU Department of Dance alumnae Catherine Horta-Hayden, current MFA candidate Andy Noble, and FSU Department of Dance faculty Gerri Houlihan, Rick McCullough, and Wallie Wolfgruber. Blythe Barton’s heartfelt and emotional To Never Slowly Pull Away is inspired by a woman’s struggle with breast cancer, and her gripping Stricture is sure to captivate the audience with its intensity and evolving intricate movement phrases. Kristen Tucker’s Tinge is bright, energetic, and uplifting, while the darker and mysterious Disenchanted explores innovative ballet pointe work. Explore & Evolve is Barton and Tucker’s thesis dance concert in partial fulfillment of their Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Dance. Tickets are $6 general admission and free for FSU students with valid FSU ID. For ticket information, contact the Fine Arts Ticket Office at 644-6500, or online at www.tickets.fsu.edu. |
