School of Dance Professor to Lecture in FSU Society for Musicology Event

The FSU Society for Musicology is presenting School of Dance Professor and musician, Douglas Corbin, as he will be giving a lecture called “Practice of Music in Dance: Aspects and Prospects”.  The event takes place this Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 4 – 5 PM at the Longmire Recital Hall in the School of Music.

This event is open to the public and free to attend.

About Douglas Corbin

Douglas is a dance musician specializing in music for training, acclaimed his for work with numerous teachers, companies and schools, including the Ailey School, David Howard, Steps, Twyla Tharpe, Merce Cunnigham Company, American Ballet Theatre and the American Dance Festival. He has made dozens of recordings for technique class, and led workshops on music for dance throughout Europe, Asia and South America.

Douglas spent the 2013 /14 season as a  company pianist for the award winning Ballett am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Germany.
