6:30 p.m. Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre Free and open to the public An evening of works in progress in various disciplines including dance. On Tuesday, October 16, The Florida State University Department of Dance and Dance Repertory Theatre will present In The Works. In The Works will be held at the Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre located in Montgomery Hall on FSU campus from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. The concert, held annually, showcases a variety of genres of works in progress. Presenters for the evening include: Cynthia Hollis (Director of Art Exhibitions and Programs at the Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science), Aline Wachsmuth (BFA Candidate, Department of Dance and recipient of a 2007 Undergraduate Research & Creativity Award) with her study titled, Investigating Contemporary Dance in Former East Germany, Andrew Noble (MFA Candidate, Department of Dance) will introduce his piece, “Birds, Mommy!” A Choreographic Process, and Dan Wagoner choreographing a piece for Gerri Houlihan, both Department of Dance faculty, entitled “A Semi-Good Looker.” This concert is free and open to the public. Dance Repertory Theatre, with Artistic Director Lynda Davis, is the department’s touring repertory company. Chosen by audition, DRT’s dancers also present a popular home concert, as well as adventurous performances for local museums, benefits, and community festivals. |
