Anjali Austin, Professor in the College of Fine Arts School of Dance and Distinguished Franklin Scholar, will be performing her solo work Live Oak (Formerly THREADS) at PianoFight in San Francisco Wednesday, March 22. Please see the link below for event and ticket information.
Live Oak’ is an auto-ethnographic work that portrays how familial influences shape one’s life. Interdisciplinary artist, Anjali Austin, pays tribute to her ancestors through quilts she inherited from her maternal grandmother – Ms. Gussie Beatrice Arnold Hill. The piece speaks to strength and resilience amidst struggle, and interweaves first hand cultural histories from the lived African American experience.
